Product: Gear Idler – Double Helical (Herringbone)
We have completed a new batch of Idler Double Helical Gears for an overseas steel mill customer. The gears feature full-tooth hardening (hardened tooth flanks) to enhance strength and wear resistance, supporting stable operation in heavy-duty, continuous-running industrial transmissions.

In steel plant gearboxes and transmission systems, operating conditions typically include high torque, shock loads, and long duty cycles. A double helical (herringbone) gear helps improve meshing stability and load handling, making it a preferred solution for demanding industrial applications.
This finished gear shows a completed tooth profile with heat-treated tooth surfaces. The full-tooth hardened design is a major advantage for steel mill applications because it helps:
Improve tooth surface strength
Increase wear resistance under heavy load
Support longer service life and more stable operation

Name: Gear Idler
Type: Double Helical (Herringbone)
Outer Diameter (OD): Ø344.72 mm
Pitch Circle Diameter (P.C.D): Ø324.72 mm
Material: SCM440
Heat Treatment: QT + HIT
Notes on Heat Treatment:
QT typically refers to Quenching & Tempering for strong core properties.
HIT is commonly used for additional hardening treatment to improve tooth durability (final effect: stronger, more wear-resistant tooth surfaces).
This idler double helical gear is suitable for steel-industry drive systems such as:
Continuous-running transmission lines
High-load idler positions used to adjust center distance / transmission direction
During manufacturing and finishing, we focus on:
Tooth geometry consistency and stable meshing behavior
Heat-treated tooth surfaces for durability in abrasive/heavy-load environments
Export-ready delivery preparation based on customer requirements
