Splined Shaft & Long Shaft

A splined shaft is a type of mechanical transmission component. Like flat keys, half-round keys, and tapered keys, it transmits mechanical torque. Longitudinal keyways are machined into the shaft's outer surface, and rotating components mounted on the shaft feature corresponding keyways to ensure synchronous rotation with the shaft. While rotating, some components can also slide longitudinally along the shaft, such as shift gears in a transmission.
